10 Eco-Friendly Places To Shop In West Seattle

We know for us, fresh groceries, a good meal, proper personal care, and a well-appointed home, are all essentials for a good life, but do you, like us, worry about the impact these things have on the planet? We’re far from perfect but we’re trying to live more consciously and make better consumer choices for the planet. Even the smallest actions matter when it comes to making a difference, so being able to incorporate them into your daily routine is essential for change. As much as we believe in the importance of making such decisions, we also believe that it shouldn’t be that hard! That’s why we’ve created this list of our favorite eco-friendly places to shop in West Seattle.
Food and Groceries
PCC
A true West Seattle staple, PCC is a local co-op store with amazing eco-friendly food, gifts, and wine, not to mention it’s the first-ever grocery store to receive the Living Building Challenge (LBC) Petal Certification. This store has so many features that make the shopping experience incredible. They have a bakery with goods made from scratch, a soup and salad bar, fresh veggies, build-your-own grain bowls, and much more. Their green-building features across the store, from high-efficiency lighting to using sustainable materials, make the overall eco-friendly experience so immersive that we simply love it. On top of that, they have knowledgeable staff and an amazing art installation by a local artist that further connects it to the community. Make sure to check their website to get further information.
West Seattle Farmer’s Market
We love the West Seattle Farmer’s Market. It’s become a bit of a Sunday ritual with a strong community atmosphere where local vendors gather to sell their high-quality products. We try our best to visit as frequently as possible. It’s a place where you can support local farmers and get some of the best goods including fresh vegetables, honey, jam, and much more. We love that there’s a variety of products that are equally great and eco-friendly. This event happens year-round on Sundays from 10 am till 2 pm in The Junction. Here’s Google Maps navigation to get there and of course, you can check their website for further details.
Personal Care and Housekeeping Products
Jill and Joey
Our personal favorite eco e-commerce store with West Seattle roots selling reusable alternatives to wasteful home products. Think reusable sandwich bags, silicone cleaning sponges, reusable zipper food bags, and even plant-based cleaning brushes. Their reusable sandwich bags are our favorite because they’re extremely durable (read kid-proof), washable, and leak-free. So you basically get all these benefits while contributing to a single-use free world. Quite a simple act for a much greater cause, right? You can check out their collection on their website. Remember that small changes matter and that’s why making conscious decisions about what we consume is important to better impact our future. You can find Jill and Joey in-store at Northwest Art and Frame and Next to Nature.
