It's that time of year again! The leaves are changing color, the air is getting cooler, and pumpkin spice everything is back on the shelves. If you're looking for some fun fall activities to do with your family in West Seattle, we've got you covered. Here are a few of our favorites:

1. See the Oversized Pumpkins at Maple Leaf Pumpkins

One of the best places to find the perfect pumpkin is at your local pumpkin patch. But here in West Seattle, we’re lucky to have Maple Leaf Pumpkins which is more than just your ordinary pumpkin patch. Located near Maple Leaf Reservoir Park, this festive home has a wide variety of pumpkins ranging from 9lbs to 700lbs! It’s the perfect place to take the little ones on a fall afternoon to marvel at these incredible pumpkins.

2. Get Lost in a Corn Maze

Carpinito Brothers in Kent, which is located 35 min south of Seattle, offers families a large variety of fall activities to enjoy, including a pumpkin patch and corn maze. Each year, the Carpinito Brothers offer a new and exciting maze design that’s perfect for a family tradition, team-building, or just a fall appreciation activity. Last year, the theme of the maze was UW vs. WSU. We can’t wait to see what this year holds!

The farm also offers a plethora of pumpkin options, suited for decorations, pies, Jack O’Lanterns, and more. The Farm Fun Yard includes a corn pit, hay slides, rubber duck races, a hazy maze, a goat walk, and farm animals that you can pet. It’s a must-visit for us every year.

3. Enjoy the Fauntleroy Fall Festival

We’re so excited that the Fauntleroy Fall Festival will be back this year.  On Sunday, October 23, 2022, from 2-5 PM, our favorite neighborhood spots will offer delicious food related to fall flavors, and kids can paint pumpkins, build birdhouses, and make salmon hats. With 20 years of history in West Seattle, it’s definitely a staple event for us.

4. Indulge in Homegrown Washington Apple Cider

What’s fall without apple cider? It’s the perfect time to enjoy homegrown apple cider. There's nothing like the taste of freshly pressed apples, and it's a great way to use up any apples that are past their prime. One easy option is Metropolitan Market apple cider, pick it up right at the grocery store! The cider is fresh and flavorful, with 20 different varieties mixed into their genetic makeup. The apples are grown west of the Cascade Mountains which means they go from tree to basket quickly, saving you the time from hiking yourself.

5. Jump in the Leaves at Lincoln Park

If you're looking to enjoy some fall foliage, Lincoln Park in West Seattle is the perfect place to go. The park is filled with trees that put on a magnificent display of color in the fall, and it's a great spot for a family hike or picnic. With 4.6 miles of walking trails, it’s one of the best places in West Seattle to spend quality family time in the crisp autumn air. You can explore the playground and picnic areas with Puget Sound as the backdrop. And when the leaves start to fall, you won’t be able to resist jumping into a pile!

6. Enjoy the Events at Harvest Fest

What could be better than a weeklong fall celebration? Pencil in Monday, October 25 through Sunday, October 31st for some of the most fun fall activities West Seattle has to offer. Hosted by West Seattle Junction, Harvest Fest includes several activities for both adults and kids. Explore the neighborhood and test your skills by participating in the Harvest Fest Scavenger Hunt. Beginning on October 25th, you can pick up your hunt map and join the fun and pick up some special treats along the way.

Don’t miss out on the Haunted Trivia Night hosted by Pegasus Book Exchange on Friday, October 29th on Zoom. Compete with your team of up to 6 people for a chance to win prizes for first place, the best team name, and the best Zoom background.

Of course, no fall event is complete without trick or treating. On Sunday, October 31st, California Ave will be the prime spot for candy and other treats between 10 am and 2 pm. It’s a great way to interact with local businesses while collecting some goodies!

If you’re looking for some fun family activities to take advantage of the fall weather, West Seattle is a great place. There are plenty of activities to choose from, from pumpkin patches and corn mazes to parks and festivals waiting to be explored. And if you need a break from all that walking, stop by one of the many coffee shops in the area for a warm drink and some conversation. We’d love to chat with you more about what West Seattle has to offer – let us know if you want to meet up for coffee.
